ThinApp browser using high ports
I have created a ThinApp for the firefox browser. It loads and attempts to run but is blocked for using a high ports around 50000 (as the source). Is there a way to control the socket/port assignment of the ThinApp browser? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
IE11 - the exception unknown software exception error
Wondering if anyone can help, I have been having issues with thinapping IE11, I have got to the point where it's at least launching and not crashing but there is one annoying error, whenever IE11 is closed an error message will pop up "the exception unknown software exception error", it's not stopping users from using IE11 but it looks bad. I have captured IE11 on a Windows 7 x64 machine using ThinApp 5.1.1 and it's being steamed to Windows 7 x64 desktops. I have tried capturing IE11 via a Windows Update and also as a standalone install, I have also not included any add-ons or captured any other applications alongside.
Has anyone else come across the same error message?
OCX Files in ThinApp 5.1.1
I'm using ThinApp 5.1.1-2722044
In the release notes for this version it says that OCX files are now registered. However I've captured an application which upon launch fails with the error CodeJock.DockingPane.Unicode.v11.2.2.ocx or one of its dependencies is not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.
During the capture, I can launch the installed application correctly without error.
After the packaging, I can launch the virtual application on the capturing machine without error.
If I launch the virtual application on a different machine, it errors as above, and if I roll the capture virtual machine back to a pre-install snapshot, it also generates the error.
So it does seem that OCX files are part of the install and ThinApp has missed them.
Any ideas how to go about resolving this one?
Windows 10 Thinapps - Slow Launch on Thinapp 5.2
Fortunately we've made progress since Thinapp 5.2 enables support for Windows 10, however every package that we've rebuilt with Windows 10 has the same issue. It can take anywhere from 1 minutes to 3 minutes to actually open. Once open, the application appears to function normally.
Is anyone else seeing this? I can't seem to find any posts regarding this issue but for us its happening on physical and virtual windows 10 machines.
I haven't tried to fully repackage an application on 5.2 yet but hoping that won't be required.
Any advice would be appreciated, if not then I'll go ahead and see if we can start a ticket on it.

Thinapp licensing price for small busines
This is my first post in this forum and I am doing this because I was unable to find or get a good answer.
The question concerns the pricing of only a couple of Thinapp end-point licenses to be used for small companies.
I am a self-employed package engineer and as such I am usually contracted by large companies to help with project involving application virtualization.
In these projects, everything that has to do with the purchase of the relevant hard&software has already been done by the customer organization.
However, next to this, I also perfrom IT-support for a number of small companies, which usually have no more than 5-15 users per company. For these companies, I usually do not spend any more than just a few hours per month at most in giving all kinds of IT-support, ranging from installing a new desktop, software, solving a printer problem to whatever comes along.
I think many people will be familiar with this setup.
Now, most of the, performing software upgrades usually takes most of the time. Going from desktop to desktop, upgrading software etc. can take a lot of time, even if the task is relatively simple.
As a package engineer, the idea of having ONLY to (re)package a Thinapp application, storing it on a fileserver-share and publishing the necessary shortcuts would save a lot of time.
However, I seem to be unable to find out how much it would cost a company to purchase just (and only just) 5-15 Thinapp licenses.
The biggest selling point of a Thinapp app, in my view, is the simple fact that it is agentless. Uses don't need anything but the Thinapp package itself.
In my opinion, this gives it a enormous advantage over MS AppV - ESPECIALLY FOR SMALL COMPANIES !!
How many companies are out there which have no more than 5-25 people in the office and who have outsources their IT to cut costs?
These companies usually have perhaps 1-2 servers, a range of desktops (usually older models), one switch and an internet-router. And that's usually it.
They don't want to spent a fortune on IT. So they end up doing it the 'old' way, a simple server and local desktops, running the OS it came with.
So, my very simply and basic question is this:
How much would 5 to 15 Thinapp (end-point) licenses cost??

Why ThinApp exe file error in win10 which i captured in winXP?
IE11 - Memory Error and Top Bar Missing.
Hi All,
I have been trying to ThinApp IE11.
When I launch the IE 11 ThinApp I receive an error stating ...The instruction at 0x77c12df6 referenced memory at 0x00000044. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program.
However, if I run it as "Administrator" I don't get the error.
Also...either way I run it, the bar at the top that has the minimize and maximize buttons is missing.
Does anyone know how to correct these issues?
Many Thanks!
Randy

SAP Business One
Curious to know if anyone has sucessfully gotten SAP B1 working with addons running. I've tried every variation on the install and am having troubles. B1 itself runs smoothly, but any addons increase the time to perform operations between 70%-130%.
Any thoughts would be welcome.
Thindirect All Virtual Firefox to Native IE except those listed in Thindirect.txt
I have an issue at a site where the customer wants a webpage redirected to a virtual firefox browser. easy enought to setup and i put the GPO in place to manage it.
However now the customer doesnt want firefox being used for anythign other than that site and if a user puts in a web address external to the company they want it redirected back to the Native IE 11.
while this behaviour should be standard in VirtIE6 I cant seem to get it to work in Virtual Firefox.

Microsoft IRM (Information Rights Management)
Hi,
we pack Microsoft Word into a ThinApp container.
Is there any chance to include the IRM Client into that package, so our collaborativ partners outsite our company can work on encrypted documents managed by our IRM 2003 server?
We do not want to install the client in the OS of the Client, because we have to force our Partners to open the document only in our provided Word 2003 within our ThinApp.
thank you

"Could not find the main class" Java error on Windows 7 but not on Windows XP
Dear all,
This is the first application that I am trying to package and virtualize with ThinApp.
It is an old business application that usually runs on Windows XP SP3 x86.
The .MSI that I generated with Thinapp works very well when installed on a Windows XP SP3 x86.
However, our main goal of using Thinapp is to install it on a Windows 7 SP1 x64.
But when doing so, the application triggers a Java Virtual Machine Launcher error message saying: "Could not find the main class. Program will exit."
I thought this was because the application integrates a JVM 1.4.2, and that my XP does not have any JVM pre-installed but the master image of my W7 has a 1.7 JVM. But even after I uninstalled the 1.7 JVM and installed the 1.4.2 on the W7 machine, I kept getting the error message so I guess it is not related.
Is there an option that I missed during the generation of my MSI so that it can work on a Windows 7 x64 ?
Thank you all for your help.

ThinApp 5.2.0 Malfunction with Virtualization
My friend told me that ThinApp have malfunction and the program does not work at all. We make experiment with "PhotoFiltre Studio X" which program originally by default work from one folder from anywhere without installation requirement. Here is what to do:
1. Make capture installation of PhotoFiltre and select removable usb option to make it Portable.
2. Launch portable PhotoFiltre on another computer. Click on main windows menu "?", then click "Information". It should launch HTM file with instructions which is placed in same folder with application. Instead of this Internet Explorer attempts to launch inexistent file from Program Files installed dir.
In short - ThinApp doesn not save virtualized HTM file into sandbox. It save log from captured location and it is looking into programs dir.
Here is website to download the program for our tests:

ThinApp IE8 reads native IE's plugins/addon
Hello Gentlemen,
I'd like to ask if anyone knows how to prevent ThinApp IE8 to see addons/plugins installed in native IE11 (ThinApp v. 5.1.16134).
I'm working on a project where end users are using legacy app which works in IE8 browser only but they are being migrated to IE11.
I'm building a ThinApp package that contains following:
- IE8
- Java
- ActiveX component
The problem I'm having is that my ThinApp package has same addons/plugins available that native IE11 has installed.
There are no addons/plugins (besides mentioned Java Helper and ActiveX) installed on a machine where I've created the ThinApp package, however when deployed to the machine with IE11, ThinApp IE8 sees all addons.
My question would be: how to prevent ThinApp IE8 package to enable those plugins and have only those which are wrapped in the ThinApp IE8 package.
I've tried all 3 isolation modes but that does not seem to resolve my problems.
I'd be glad for any feedback I can get for this topic.
Thank you and appreciate.

Office 2010 Thinapp errors when installed through Hoirzon View
I have an office 2010 thinapp that I have captured. When it is installed manually on any machine it works fine and I have no issues with it at all. When I assign it to a desktop or pool in View Admin it looks to install like normal, but when running any office application it comes up with "Error 1719. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance." followed by "Microsoft Office cannot verify the license for this application. A repair attempt failed or was canceled by the user. The Application will now shut down."
Again, if I run the msi from the thinapp repository manually I have absolutely no issues, this only occurs when view installs the thinapp.
I have been going crazy trying to figure this out for three days now. I've read every guide and done every recommendation on the vmware tutorials and cannot figure it out. This is with the latest version of thinapp and view. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it a lot!
Thank you
Thinapp of older Java client w system-installed IE11
I have a Java app that requires an older version of Java 1.6.0_43 or 1.6.0_45 (either one is fine..I chose '45' for the Thinapp).
I've had this app in production for nearly 2 years with no issues. It appears when the VM has 1.6.0_85 Java and IE11 installed, the application breaks. If a pool has either Java '85' OR IE11, the app works fine.
I rebuilt the Thinapp from scratch on a clean VM machine with IE 11 installed as the default browser. If I set the default ISO mode to MERGED (original Thinapp was set to WRITE COPY), I get to the point when IE launches and I get the following error
"C:\progra~2\java\jre6\bin\ssvagent.exe" The service cannot accept control messages at this time.
Typically, I would include the system installed IE as an entry point and add a CommandLine entry in the package.ini to point to the specific URL location for the application.
For testing, I omitted the CommandLine entry and manually typed in the URL once I launched the IE11 entry point

any assistance would be appreciated.
