Hi All,
I am currently trying to ThinApp GIMP 2 on a Windows 7 VM using ThinApp 5.2.2.
When I try to launch it on my Windows 7 workstation the pop up shows in the bottom right of my monitor, but nothing ever launches.
Does anyone have an idea what may be causing this not to launch?
Many thanks!
Throwing this out there before I log this with VMware, VMWare engineering team successfully resolved an issue we had with Outlook email previewing not working, unfortunately since the fix we have migrated from Standard to Professional Pro, the fix for the Outlook previewing still works but we now have an issue where printing from Outlook will only print to the default printer no matter what printer you choose, it appears to just ignore your printer choice and send to default, anyone experienced this? All other Office applications are printing fine, just Outlook is displaying this behaviour.
- Office Professional Plus 2013 32bit captured on Windows 7 vanilla 32bit, straight capture, no plugins etc
- Steaming to Window 7 64bit
- Using ThinApp 5.2.2 build 4978772
- Outlook is printing fine from capture machine, does not revert to default printer
Wondering if anyone can help, I have a VBScript which is attempting to copy a folder to the local sandbox but it keeps copying to the virtual file system, is there a way around this? I have implemented a msgbox to verify the path I have specified and it's given me the location of the local sandbox but when it copies the folder it copies to %AppData%/Local on the virtual file system. Hope my explanation makes sense. I'm assuming the redirect is by design.
If I would create a tool to extract thinapp .dat files based based on reverse engineering would it be ok to publish it?
My company would like to try and Thinapp Visio 2016. I am first wanting to know if this is possible or if we should Thinapp Visio 2013 instead.
If it is possible, any documentation for help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi.
I have create file associations for few thinapped applications (Adobe Reader, Microsoft Word).
First file is opened as expected. But next time I click on file it start new process of
thinapped application, after few seconds it closes and file opens in existing windows.
It is significantly slows down opening files in thin application.
Is it normal operation? Is there any way to open files in existing window (process) at once?
Hi.
In thinnaped application there is feature to create thumbnails of files.
To create thumbnails app use COM surrogacy.
Consequently, thinapp use TASurrogate.exe to do it.
The problem is that TASurrogate.exe doesn't unload after operation and some times even after main application exit.
Is there same way to force TASurrogate.exe unload?
Hi,
I've got an application called NetViewer / NetBuilder from Nokia Siemens that I'm trying to get working. The application itself is actually working fine, but if you run it in an environment where you have redirected your Desktop it will automatically create an AppData directory on that same location and write a lot of files, only 3.5 megabytes in total, but at 1 byte at a time. This generates a lot of IO and the application takes an hour or two to start.
Can we use some kind of trick in Thinapp to make the application believe that the Desktop has not been redirected?

Is there a posibility to virtualize a Windows 7 application to run on Windows XP or you can only virtualize from a lower OS to a higher OS.
Thanks you!
As the title says, is it possible to thinapp application on Windows XP and run them on Windows 10?
For example, Oracle 8i Client.
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
I have captured an application but when I start it I got the error:
Missing Import C:\Windows\system32\ucrtbase.dll->kernelbase.dll:CreateProcessA
This dll is in the package at %SystemSystem%.
When I use the package entry externaldll:ucrtbase.dll then the error "shifts" to another dll.
Please can anyone give me a hint whats going wrong?
TIA
Looking for Instructions to Thinapp..
Hi all,
We have a Java appled application, with require some local resources an a winword plugin.
All the local resources i have put in a thinapp.
If i open a word document from within the JavaAppled winword will start but my thinapp crashes! (i have a entry point to iexplore.exe on a windows 10 os)
I is use:
VirtualizeExternalOutOfProcessCOM=0
ChildProcessEnvironmentExceptions=Winword.EXE
ChildProcessEnvironmentDefault=Virtual
winword starts and no thinapp crash, but no i don't have the word plugin becourse winword start out side the thin environment.
so my question is how to pull winword 2016 in to a thinapp environment.
many thanks
Roger
Hi guys
I am having an application which runs with an Access frontend (*.mde) and has in the background an oracle database.
Up till now the software was only compatible with access 2003 and we had the following installations thinapped:
- Access 2003
- Oracle Client
- Oracle ODBC Connection
- some regkeys
Now the application is compatible with access 2016. Access 2016 is installed on our base image, so we don't need to thinapp access 2016. We only need the Oracle Client, ODBC Connection, Regkeys... but the entry point has to be Access.
For example:
[XYZ.exe]
Source="C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\MSACCESS.EXE" (--> also tried it with %programdir% variable)
WorkingDirectory=\\Server\Share
CommandLine="C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\MSACCESS.EXE" /runtime "\\Server\Share\Access.mde
Shortcuts=%Desktop%
But at the end of the build process I get the Information that it can't find %programdir%\Microsoft Office\Office16\MSACCESS.EXE"
I guess it's looking for this path into the capture folder and not on the physical machine. How can I make this working or is it not possible?
The [Isolation] is set to: DirectoryIsolationMode=Merged
Kind regards
llips
Hi,
Does anyone have succesfully thinapped cognos 7.4 on windows 7 32bit?
I'm getting an error (Error -55 database activation cancelled) and i can't connect to the database.
The strange is when i start the Thinapp Log Monitor to see what is going wrong the connection to the database works fine.
Does anyone have an idea to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
we are running different virtual applications with thinapp on windows 10.
After upgrading to windows 10 creator update these applications crash.
Every time the event viewer shows an error 1000, Application crash, Faulting Module c:\windows\system32\oleaut32.dll.
We tried with thinapp 5.2 and 5.2.2.
Is this a known issue with the creator update ?
Kind Regards,
Verheijden Thierry.
We have recently moved to 64 bit base OS for Horizon.
When building any thinapp on this new base OS, it will not work if I include a VBS file (for doing the FirstParentStart functions etc):
It does attempt to run, but fails:
Found similar issue (VB script crash thinapp ) but the solution doesn't apply to me as that DLL is not present in the package.
Any ideas?
Using ThinApp 5.2.2
